Hurricane Katrina, a deadly and devastating tropical storm, has caused catastrophic damage to much of the SouthEast Gulf Coast area.   Katrina may be the deadliest hurricane in the United States since the Galveston Hurricane of 1900 which claimed approximately 8,000 lives.  It is also expected to be the costliest natural disaster in United States history.  Many of our community organizations, residents and businesses have expressed an interest in assisting in humanitarian relief efforts.  The City of Rome has adopted the city of Biloxi, MS as a Sister City and has organized a relief effort targeted for that area.
